Is the free plan really free forever — not a trial?
Yes. The free plan is a permanent tier, not a 14-day trial. You get 500 API calls per month for as long as you have an account. Your call count resets on the 1st of every month. There is no expiry date and no credit card is ever required to maintain the free plan.
What happens when I use all 500 free calls?
The API returns a 429 status with a clear message: "Monthly limit reached. Upgrade to continue." Your remaining_api_calls count will show 0. You can upgrade to the Developer plan (₹750/$9/month for 5,000 calls) at any time from the dashboard. Your calls reset on the 1st of next month if you prefer to wait.
Are the free plan results as accurate as paid plans?
Yes, identically accurate. All plans use the same Swiss Ephemeris computation engine running locally on our servers. There is no "degraded accuracy" on the free tier. We have verified accuracy against Jagannatha Hora (industry standard Vedic software) for the reference birth chart. The free plan is limited by call count, not by computation quality.
Which endpoints are available on the free plan?
All 116 endpoints are available on the free plan — horoscope, divisional charts, panchang, dashas, matching, doshas, predictions, yoga, KP system, ashtakvarga, and more. The only restriction is that AI narrative endpoints (Claude-powered chart readings) require a paid plan. Everything else is fully accessible.
Can I use the free API in a production app?
Yes. The free plan has no restriction on production use. Many small-scale apps run permanently on the free tier. At 500 calls/month, you can serve roughly 16–20 unique users per day (each generating 1–2 API calls). When your app grows beyond that, upgrading to the Developer plan at ₹750/month ($9) gives you 5,000 calls.
